Quade Cooper to miss two All Black clashes

The Wallabies have suffered a blow for their TriNations hopes as star playmaker Quade Cooper has been banned for two weeks.

Cooper's form has been so good that he has pushed regular pivot Matt Giteau to centre this season which is why the Wallabies are now considering lodging an appeal within the next 48 hours.

The Wallabies beat the Springboks yesterday but Cooper was banned for two games after being found guilty of a spear-tackle on his opposite number 10 Morne Steyn.

Cooper was shown a yellow card for the incident at the time and spent 10 minutes in the sin bin during which the Springboks scored a try.

The decision means that Cooper will now miss next weekend's test against the All Blacks in Melbourne and the Wallabies second game against the All Blacks in Christchurch.

"Obviously Quade's disappointed and we're disappointed but we're in the process now of contemplating where to from here," coach Robbie Deans said. "We may contemplate appealing."

A disconsolate Cooper conceded he was in a state of shock after the hearing.

"To come off a good hard win over the Boks last night and to come here is very disappointing but at the same time I'm just looking forward to getting back on the field as soon as possible," he told AAP.
